Thinking of a trek to Ben Nevis this year sometime.
Never been before.
What's the best time of year to go - avoid midges etc ?
Accomodation, location, best way up etc etc
Any pointers please ?
Thank You

Best time of year is probably May before the midges arrive or at the
end of September when they are less prevalant. No midges on a windy
day.
Easiest route is the Mountain Path but best route is The Arete but not
for the inexperienced.
Various types of accommodation available in Fort William at the foot of
The Ben.

May. Possibly lingering snow fields.

Camp in Glen Nevis. I did sea level, distillery, forrest rd, cut up to the path.
Halfway lochan then tourist path to summit. Then hd of the summit to the gully
just before the CMD. Scramble down then past the CIC hut, back out across the
golf course.
Then at least you hve done it from sea level. 7Hrs ish.
