Installing a suspension fork

Its not that hard really. No special tools are needed if your only going to do it once. The most difficult part is getting the crown race off your old fork and onto the new one...I would have a pro do that, just to make sure its not damaged, it only takes a minute or two and any good shop should be able to do it while you wait for a small price. Other than that its just measure and cut (straight!!!).

It really is that easy. Like was said before: the cut MUST be straight. Make sure the starfangled nut is at the proper height as well. The only tool you will need is an allen wrench, to tighten the stem bolts and headset cap bolt. My best advice is pay a shop to cut the steerer tube (assuming it needs to be cut), set the starfangle nut, and seat the crownrace. It might cost you $10 to $20 bucks, but if you do not have the tools to ensure a straight cut and to properly seat the crownrace you will be saving mucho mucho dinero in potential damages. Dude, I would just get the tools to do it yourself. You just need a guide for cutting the steerer tube, and a tool to set the star fangled nut. You can set/remove the bottom race with a flat head screw driver if you are *really* careful. To put it on, you just hit it around the edge with the flat head carefully in a circular pattern until it hits the crown. Shox only last 2 years these days, so you mind as well invest in the tools.
