You did have a paragraph devoted to your exploits Ken. Does that
qualify as the requisite 15 minutes of fame?

A perfunctory report nonetheless. The author should've delved more
deeply into the dis/incentives of cycling. That would've been more
revealing. For instance, on the occasions that I've confronted
non-cyclists on the subject of (bicycle) commuting, most respond that
the likelihood of an accident is a major deterrent. Too bad the author
didn't explore the facts behind this common, misguided fear.

Well it wasn't 15 minutes of fame. I agree with you on the fact that the
author should have worked more on displelling myths associated with bike
commuting. And should have wrote more about the advantages of bike
commuting. But then again she is just a journalism student, from what I
know.

Am I wrong, or does a lot of the text sound verbatim like a lot of the
posts on r.b.m?

Also, a huge slip-up in the article -- there are, in fact, exact stats on
commuting available from the census figures. You can go county by county
for residence and get county of work, length of commute, time of commute,
and method of commute (including bicycling.) It's a little hard to find,
though; I had it up on the screen once but could never quite locate that
report again.
