because of the hallowed group I'm riding in.

I get the impression the Arrivee editorial team don't get many pictures
submitted from anyone other than the usual suspects, hence why it seems
to be always the same people in the pictures.

I aim to rectify this by carrying a camera with me on Audax rides in the
future and submitting a few pictures of my own. I wish I had taken a
proper camera on Mad Jack's last weekend - got a couple of OK shots with
my phone camera, but even 2MP is not high enough resolution to do the
views justice (when you could see the views, they were fine ones). And
even though I passed several p*nct*re victims doing their roadside
repairs, I forgot to take pictures of them for Daniele. (Sorry, Daniele,
I'll try to remember next time.)

are SON''s. Might as well be a club badge.

lighting solution... can't finally decide whether or not to order the
solidlights 1203D / new SON front wheel combo (£Ouch) or give that new
B&M Ixon a try (£55).

Yes, managed to work that out for myself once I realised my own copy had
actually arrived today - my wife hid it under some bills, but then I
found it, so I spotted the caption on the inside.

I also got to read a nice piece on the Severn Across by one Mr D. Kahn.
Any relation? ;-)

I got my SON through last week and I am already wondering why I waited
so long. Went out in the dark-and-wet yesterday evening and enjoyed
reliable lighting and almost imperceptible drag (the drag only seems to
be at all noticeable when going downhill at speed - when it doesn't
matter anyway). Truly marvellous.

I'm still deciding what to do about lights. I'm making do with the old
Lumotec for the moment, which means disconnecting the lead when I want
to switch it off, which is a /slight/ nuisance.

The question is: do I spend £44 on the "senso" switched Lumotec, or do I
save my pennies and put them towards a Solidlights 1203D? I really can't
afford the latter option at the moment, but then I don't want to settle
for second best... having said that, I'm quite happy with the amount of
light I get from the Lumotec, so would it really be second best?

I don't know about the Ixon. How does it compare to the Lumotec?

I've already more or less decided against the E6/E6-Z combo because I
suspect I would be incompetent of wiring it up correctly.

note the use of 500 odd invisible smileys!

Wiring up an E6z consist of unplugging one (any) lead from the dynamo,
replacing this with the plug from the E6z wiring loom, and joining the
two remaining leads.

Only last weekend I say one a the Cafe stop which had had a toggle

reconsider. You already wonder why you waited so long for the SON don't
don't the same thing with the E6-Z. I waited 2 years and that was a
mistake. Lumotec with E6-Z is just brilliant.

The E6-Z is really easy to connect up as it comes pre-wired. Failing
that I'm sure someone could help you.

Apples and oranges, the Ixon is a battery powered LED unit. See here:

AtoB magazine seem greatly impressed with it but it's a very different
thing to a Lumotec halogen lamp.

I need more light than my current Cateye EL200's provide. I'm sure I'd
be delighted with a SON/1203D set up but it's a heck of a lot of money
to justify (£330) ... a full third of what my entire recumbent cost
me.
