Finding the right cone.

Someone may know exactly if you state make and model of hub (if known).

On a more pessimistic note: "Replacement cones, especially for older
hubs, can be difficult or impossible to obtain. There are too many
variations of them, mostly incompatibility with one another" --

In my experience, different cones may fit the axle & bearings but not
necessarily the dust caps, and different dust caps may not fit the hub.
The last resort is to not use dust caps!

Being optimistic again, a different bike shop may have less trouble
finding proper replacements than your LBS if you're lucky.

Hold the old and the new side by side normally works for older wheels.

workshop - i've got about 60 I think.
