I'm still hoping that Cunego lives up to the promise he's shown. This
could be is year, even though Jan's going to win. (I've been making
that prediction for years)
Boonen does seem to be the real thing, and the Tour is nice, but that
hardasses win the spring classics.

For the last seven years the Chief [censored] dominated the
Tour to the point where the fans complained it was Boring.
Now the [censored] is drinking beer, the fans fear the Tour
has no star power. It sure is hard to please the Public.

Dumbass,
You have a point. Poulidor, well, was Poulidor - he proves your
point about fan favorites not always being winners. IIRC,
Fignon was disliked by many when he was a winner, but his
loss to Lemond brought him a lot of sympathy. I didn't
think Hinault or Kelly provoked that kind of dislike, although
surely they were not universally loved.
Fans want somebody talented, charismatic, daring, who
attacks with abandon, and has good hair - but in an age of
specialization, methodical preparation, and team strategy,
it's going to be hard for a loose cannon to win the Tour.

In an age of steroids its hard to find someone with good hair.
