I just purchased a Thule fairing for my 2002 5door VW Golf. The fairing mounted easily but I can't get the driver and passenger side mounting arms to hold the base of the fairing down flush to the roof of the car. The mounting arm bolts are as tight as they will go, and still the edges of the fairing pop up so that the fairing is not curved but straight across the front of the rack.
Is there a trick to mounting the two ends or am I missing something else? Thanks in advance.

Bend the AL arms?
You may find that your rack is actual louder with the rack on. I did on my '88 Golf. Then again, there's been a lot of years between our two cars...

We'll see. A friend of mine has an 89 Golf. If the fairing doesn't work, I'll try to pass it off on him. BTW, I found the solution, I mis-read a part of the directions.
