  1. Jean-Pierre Monséré (1948-1971) was a Belgian cyclist. He became
professional in 1969. That year he had already won the Giro di
Lombardia. One year later he became the Belgian and World Champion. In
1971 he became Belgian champion again. Shortly afterwards, on March 15,
he fell during the GP Retie and died. Monséré is regarded one of the
best cycling talents ever; he was the youngest cyclist ever to become
    World Champion.

It's true that Monseré was a few days younger than Lance Armstrong who
always claimed to be the youngest World Champion ever (and probably still
does), but actually it was Karel Kaers (1934).
