Damn Brompton

Better technique and levers?
push both tyrebeads to the middle of the rim
place two tyrelevers 2"-3" apart, left and right from the valve
put tension on one lever, and push the bead you're working on to the
middle of the rim again
flip the levers over one by one, not simultaneously

I'm a fan of the yellow Michelin levers, never broken one yet

Same problem with a Moulton sometimes .... I think I saw an ad in the comic
last week for some plastic levers with a metal core to overcome just that
problem .... may have been Park Tools ... worth a look around as they do
exist.

The other thing that levers for small(er) tyres could be is a bit longer to
get more leverage for that last inch or two of the bead!

Get the tyre off the rim all the way round first. Then push the tyre
into the wheel, where the tape is. That gives enough slack yo get
the tyre off easily.

I find Tacx tyre levers pretty good. They're the only ones That have a
lip on them to make tyre removal from hooked rims a bit easier.

Park Tools Blue Levers. Don't know about the metal core, but they
don't bend or break and don't knacker the rim.

But they /do/ ping across the room without going anywhere towards
removing the tyre. IME, anyway.

I've had a set in my toolbox for the last few years, but I only use them
if I can't find anything else that's not bent.

I bought some interesting looking levers a couple of weeks ago, but
haven't actually tried them yet.

Halfords still sell steel ones. They're the only kind I use, as the
plastic ones tend to snap.

Brompton jobs, so they get my vote here.

The Personal Bike Mechanic is known to use spoons. Indeed there are spoons
specifically for this purpose in the workshop ;-)
