  1. I wrote to Lord Quinton (and Lord Steel) last week about their comments
in the House of Lords. I got a hand written letter back from Lord
Quinton this morning. Unfortunately I have not so far been able to read
his handwriting but if I find a GP's secretary to help me I will post a
translation here. I think he was conciliatory

Reminds me of when I used to go out with a doctor. Any chance of scanning
this letter and posting it here so that the collective conciousness could
    decode it for you?

It might be a little risky publishing a private letter from a member
of the HOL. You could of course write back saying you can't read his
handwriting and could he possibly use one of those new fangled
typerwity things. Even then it would still be a letter intended for
Tony Raven and not to be published without Lord Quinton's consent.

Should be ok, if the geezer's writing "ex-cathedra".
