Not on-topic, but since Walgooses come up often here in regard to newbie price points, I thought this article was interesting. It has to do with the owner of Snapper lawnmowers, who declined to sell mowers through Walmart in the interest of keeping their current dealer relationships and sustaining the image of quality his brand enjoys (I guess -- I'm not really up on lawnmowers.) It reminds me of an LBS I used to frequent that sold Schwinn and Mongoose. Both brands tried to maintain two different identities -- one as big box disposable fodder, the other performance-oriented for the shops. The brand recognition helped the big boxes but hurt the shops, so the LBS dropped them.
