  1. Hi guys, sorry, this one is actually OT...

    So what if it's OT - that's a sensational effort! How are the legs?

    Almost spilt my up-sized x-large coke from Macca's on the keyboard reading that.

    Better than I expected. Yesterday, stairs and ramps were very difficult.
    Today I'm walking normally, just the hips are a bit sore, and the calves
    were tight when I first got up (which I expected - the quads and hammies
    don't get too bad because the weight of the legs is enough to keep them
    a bit stretched, but the feet tend to curl up easily under the force of
    tight calves).

    Try cleats with a bit more area, maybe Look Keo's or Shimano SPD-SLs,
    and some stiffer soled shoes.

    There's no point in posting something like that when Dutchy isn't about.
    You might have to re-post when he returns. 😉

    Tam, that is awesome - congratulations. Its strange, but almost immediately after having just typed that first sentence, my emotional plane shifted. Bear with me.

    My initial reaction (which was along the lines of):

    1. you beauty;
    2. congrats;
    3. marvelous effort;
    4. pleased for you;
    5. etc etc

    was soon replaced with thoughts like:

    1. poor dear, why are you doing that to yourself;
    2. she obviously needs help;
    3. I wonder what is she running from;
    4. whoa thats kinda f*&ked up.

    So I set about trying to get you some help. I Googled "runners anonymous" and this is the first hit. So, its pretty clear that your type won't recover from this affliction and dont want to be rescued, and that your fellow a.b.er's should just wish you well and pick up the pieces later. WELL DONE!😄 😄 😄

    Bleve, not sure if you've read the whole thread or were joking with your above comments, but I think running 100 km with road riding shoes with any cleats on would probably make things worse.

    errr well, i will scratch out a couple of words when they post the
    results on their website (not 100% sure of my times), but I am sure I
    did a little slower than last year, but still managed to finish, a
    little bit disappointing though.

    Oooh, speaking of that horrible, horrible food substitute (Macca's, not
    coke)...
    I had a double quarter pounder as my pre race meal and a sausage and
    egg mcmuffin afterwards. Do you think I can ask for sponsorship?

    I'd suggest then maybe a bit more seat setback and shorter cranks,
    maybe 170mm?
