Oh yeah....and why is ciclosport so hard to find places to buy from? They seem good, but nobody sells them.

If you go to www.usps.com and calculate postage to Australia, you can see that Priority Mail is under $20 US (I computed for a 2 pound package, and I suspect your computers would weigh far less that)

I don't know the US-Australia exchange rate, but for $60 US you can get the highest level express shipment...

If you know someone in the US that could buy locally and ship you might be doing well...

Have you checked eBay? If someone will ship for their cost, you could probably get a pretty good deal.

Nashbar aren't geared to overseas buyers, I wanted to 2 water bottles and they also wanted to charge me $65 USD for freight which is crazy !!!. If they don't revise this to a more realistic price, their going to loose a lot of customers to the UK stores.

Universal Cycles seem pretty good for both pricing and freight. They only sell Sigma Bike Computers with cadence. (BC 1600 with cadence).

They have been about as forthcoming as everyone else about the reliability of these (not very "we sell a lot of these"😉. So I would buy from them as soon as I would from anyone else. <G>
BUT

I have read quite a few User reviews that comment that Sigma stuff will lose settings/readings if you go over a bump or two, or they reset themselves etc. This seems not to be moisture related, just happens.

So.

Any comments?

I did go to USPS and I have pointed this out, quite strongly, to Nashbar. The computers would probnably go under a pound the both, even packed. It's a pity. They seem to have a very good range.

Ebay...hmmm...been burned a couple of times there. I did have a look, but found nothing to suit. I had a few other items to get as well. I may try again.

I will happily go woth Universal Cycles and the Sigma, if anyone wil tell me that the Sigmas aren't _that_ bad. I just read a couple of negative reports, and there was a common thread of suddenly switching themselves off and losing settings etc..

Yes, it's strange, although not unique. There are quite a few places that charge ridiculous freight. dgregory57 pointed out that what _may_ be happening (if not rampant profiteering or a simple _pretence_ at selling overseas) is that they are using the top-pevel carriers. Fedex, UPS etc. This popped up when I asked about freight in my other thread.What got me was that I went back and asked if it was some sort of minimum, and they said yes, but it would rise with _any_ other purchase! <G>

Nic, can get local Cateye Astralie8 for under $90 and Sigma BC1600 for under $80 w/cadence kit. Cateye is easier to read and cables better quality. 🙂

Yeah, but I can get _two_ Sigma BC1600s (USD$24 ea = USD$48) for that much from the US, USPS posted (+ 20 = USD$68), exchange rate 100/75 (Au$91) , and GST (+9 = Au$99) included. It's hard to pass up. If I throw in a couple of sets of, say, disc pads as well, the post stays the same, and I am at half price or less.

Only thing is I have just discovered that Universal Cycles do not carry the right pads...weird.

So I am still looking for a US shop that sells stuf that I want, that does not rip me off on freight....:-<

I agree. I think the Cateye would be better. I actually thought of getting one Cateye and one Sigma, as the Sigma has more features, which are only needed on one computer....however.
