Trailer advice

You missed the most important issue: whether your trailer will run with one wheel in the dirt and the other on the asphalt. Believe me, you want as narrow a profile as possible.

Weight is a bigger issue than rolling resistance. Lack of stability at speed can be addressed by weighting the front of your bike with panniers, learning how to adjust your riding to counter it, or by keeping your speed below 25 mph. I toured across the US with a BOB and learned through Texas how to stand up in the pedals and how to compensate for shimmy while exceeding 40 mph.

should have mentioned, I'm not likely to do much off road. Then again, riding on the road, I can see why narrow is better.

Am leaning towards a Bob style trailer, though the cost is an issue.
(Trying to decide between a trailer and a GPS for my wife)

Amazingly, a BOB and bag is cheaper and lighter than stainless steel racks and good panniers. As far as a comparison with a GPS.....

I know, but my wife is hopeless with directions.

She almost needs a navman to get from the bedroom to the bathroom.

Should I buy it for her, or be selfish and get the BOB (rhetorical Q - don't answer)
