new. Many years ago, before mountain bikes, I was waiting for a store
to open with my road bike parked alongside me near the store's door.A *very wide* woman (probably equal to two of me) came up with someone
else to wait for opening time. After a moment, she pointed to the
bike's drop bars and said in a loud voice, apparently intending for me
to hear, "that's un-natural!" I somehow managed not to burst out laughing.
Perhaps surprisingly, though, this evening I discovered that the Kent
Denali had joined the ranks of Bikes In Stock at the WallyWorld near
me. It wasn't as heavy as I had anticipated (no guess on the weight
other than 20+), but the drivetrain lived down to what I expected, and
the goofy multi-piece bars (needed in order to get the twist-grips
into the chosen location) didn't inspire confidence at all. OTOH, I
would not turn my nose up at one of them if I had the offer, but it
would swiftly get converted to a hybrid with trigger shifters.
