Since it was a gloomy day, I opted out of the Sunday ride after spending yesterday building and installing boardwalk on my local trails. So while the rain was holding off, I decided to attempt some dog training. Since my dogs are rescues (except one) they come pre-trained. Once mini schnauzer is too old, the other too fat and lazy, and the other one would take off for Atlantic City. This leaves the Wheaton. She is the best one on a leash but still can't be trusted off the leash around the house. Trail situations are different so off we went. I kept the lead on but did not hold it. This would give me a chance to step on it should something catch her eye. Surprisingly she was a natural. She stayed on the trail knowing where it was all the time, never ventured far from me without turning around to see if I was there and even listened to my commands. We walked off lead on (riding will come later) the trail for a mile before the rain started coming down. Next step will be to put her with the bike on the lead to see if she can get over her timidness of it. Hopefully soon I'll have a new companion for the trails.

Sweet! Good luck with her, she is so cute! We have a friend who trail runs with his border collie, apparently, it is a great activity for both human and canine to do together.
