I just put in two loaves of rye bread (using deli rye flavoring from King Arthur) for the pastrami I picked up at Costco last night. It is from Carnegie Deli in NY (I recall eating there years ago and going to Evita, so you know how long it's been). The only other time I've eaten this type of meat or smoked meat was in Montreal at Swartz's, so I'm looking forward to it. The only drawback is that it frozen and has to be heated in a plastic pouch. That doesn't set well, but since I don't do this type of cooking, once will be fine.
I will have some pickles and perhaps open a glass jar of sauerkraut. Perhaps some wine, and a piece of left-over cheesecake.

Dee, is it sold in the frozen foods, or in the deli area? I'm adding that to my list. Thanks. nancy

It is in the deli foods, DH says. I couldn't remember. It's on the stove right now. You put it in the package in boiling water 5 minutes, turn over & boil for 4-5 minutes and let it sit 1-2 minutes, then serve. For me it will be on rye.
But I probably screwed up. I came home and put it in the freezer instead of the frig, so who knows whether it will be ok for the cooking time specified. Dee Dee

Wine? You need a nice can of Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray Tonic!

Thanks, DH and Dee. That sounds like the perfect way to heat it up, I'll be on the lookout.

I don't think you can really go wrong with that method. Let me know how you like it?

And I have some Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray AND Cherry and I forgot I had it, and it's good and cold, too. Not to fear, there is some left neat over; I didn't eat any, but DH says it's very good. Thanks for reminding me -- I'll have it tomorrow. Dee Dee

It could've cooked a little longer for me so I didn't have any, but just a tastey/bite. DH said he would heat it a little more, but I'd lost my appetite by then picking on other things. There is some left over and I'll have some tomorrow. Before I fix the second package, I'll thaw it first before cooking. I am definitely not a meat-eater, but even I would recommend it -- and I think the price is right, Dee Dee
