I've got a set of older (pointy type) Ergo levers. I know that Campagnolo
revised the geometry/spring rate of their rear derailleurs, and the "company
line" states that the newer rear derailleurs are incompatible with older
levers.
Can I get a newer derailleur to work with these levers, or do I have to
search for the older model?

I think that as long as you continue to shift 8 or 9 cogs, old pointy
levers won't allow 10, then try it! It should work.

New ders work fine with old levers. We combine them all the time with
no ill effects.
