A while back someone posted about getting a KitchenAid mixer at Sams
Club... that was made just for Sams Club...
What were the details?
I don't think I'd have any use for any of the attachments... meat
grinder.. pasta maker etc..but may change my mind in the future
What wattage? are the bowls and accessories available elsewhere or do
you have to go and buy just for Sams Club Version of KA?
These things are rather large... Is it a major boo boo to plan on just
leaving the thing on the counter?
(like I don't already have junk mail, hand tools, coffee grinder,
french press on the counter... )

Chuck (in SC)If you're reasonably healthy with full use of your hands then you don't
need a KA mixer, it can't do anything you can't do with your hands, a
portable hand mixer, and a wooden spoon... a hand mixer will fit in a
drawer and your hands, in your pockets, a wooden spoon, I ain't saying.
And motorized small appliance wattage has little to do with shaft
horsepower, wattage has to do with electrical consumption only... that
extra 25-100 watts mostly means your mixer produces more heat and your
electric bill will be a bit more expensive... KA mixers are an
extremely inefficient method for heating your home, but millions with
more dollars than brain cells do exactly that. -

But yes, they are rather ominous and heavy... I park mine in the
garage. Kev -

A mixer might be nice for large quantities of pasta, but I make
homemade egg noodles by hand fairly frequently. Doesn't take long, or
very much effort, and they're terrific. No machine needed. -aem -

ball while I'm on the floor bleaching your blood out of the cracks
between the linoleum tiles?No?
Then shut up.

I don't think I'd have any use for any of the attachments... meat
grinder.. pasta maker etc..but may change my mind in the futureI regularly use the shredder/slicer (mostly to shred cheese) and the
grinder (to grind left-over meat for salad or hash). My arthritic
hands love the attachments (and the mixer). But that's just me.N.

Now don't confuse a matter of timing and good organization with the need
for a heavy duty stand mixer. Have everything together, and first things
first. The floor will just have to wait!<Sort of mis en place, n'est-ce pas? And don't forget to clean your shoes>

presentable and let the haggis run a tad bit late.Quoted message said:

They're in the haggis.

~Chuck (in SC)I was given my great aunt's ka when she went into the nursing home. It
had 2 glass bowls, a food grinder, a can opener<?> and a juicer. I
admit I've never figured out why someone would want the can opener
attachment (maybe they didnt' have an electric can opener in the
40's?) and I can't drink citrus so the juicer isn't much use to me,
but the meat grinder has been great! Leftover turkey can end up as
burgers, and can make my own lean chopped meat. It's also great for
making chopped liver. If you've got the pasta maker around, you'll use it. Eventually.
After tasting Curly Sue's Gnocchi at a cook-in, I had to try it.I keep my mixer (ended up with a new one when Aunt E's finally bit the
dust) in a corner of the counter, but the spare parts all live
underneath in the storage cabinets. It used to live in the cabinet
above the fridge, but when we got the new fridge, we had to take them
out since they were too low. I do have a cloth cover for it--keeps
the dust and other effluvia off the mixer, and can be washed when it's

I couldn't find a ready-made cover to fit when I bought mine, so I just
made one out of a terry cloth towel. It does the job nicely.N.
