Not to sound like an ass or anything, but isn't this really a caveat
emptor kind of deal? The facts of the matter are like this:
1- Controlled Carb living is a very minority way of life
2- Sugar saturation is very much the majority's way of life
3- Capitalist Markets are like representative democracies.
So, knowing these facts, if you are going to live the minority way of
life, YOU have to be the change you want to see. It's like being an
early adapter. If you bought an early HDTV, you had no programming that
looked any better on it, save your DVDs. As time progresses, and more
people jump on board, you get more programming. Same deal with la vida
low carb. We all have to live it, which means looking at labels all the
time on new products. Eventually, perhaps, the minority becomes a
sizeable minority, at which point, real change happens. You could see
something similar with DVDs and VHS tapes at Blockbuster. If you
substitute LC Subscribers for DVD player owners and the grocery store
for Blockbuster, it's maybe the same story that DVD owners were looking
at ten years ago.
Your rant is forgiven, and I feel your pain. I hate it on the occasion
when that happens. I usually bring them to work/school and set em out
for other people if I can't work em in. You get $4 worth of friendship
capital that way.

I stopped at the grocery store tto pick up a couple of snack items for
the work week as I like to have something other than the vending
machines in case I do get hungry. I stopped by the nuts isle and
picked up a can of what I thought were plain roasted almonds. N
Later when I opened the can, poured a few into my hand the first thing
I noticed is that they felt sticky. I then looked at the ingredients,
my bad for not having done this in the store but I was in a hurry, only
to see maltodextrin, potato starch, msg, and sugar all at the top of
the list, right after almonds. Now, I have $4 down the toilet along
with the almonds (figuratively not literally).
It seems like the medical community and the media are finally seeing
the light and admiting that all the refined white [censored] is no good for
you. Now I just wish the food industry will take the hint.
The problem is that the industry is market driven and until as a whole
people give the [censored] up, it will continue to worm its way into
everything!
