Hey guys, I've been searching around for a beginner's training module/program and mostly have seen a "do whatever you can on a comfortable pace, just have fun" mentality. Well, I do want to have fun, and I do not want to over train but it doesn't give a solid program to follow. I've started training at the beginning of last week and did 4 days of 4.4 miles, averaging 11 mph and finished the 4.4 at around 24 mins(the 4.4 is split into 2 2.2 courses-to and from work). This week I have done one 8.8 mile bike and a 4.4 mile bike. I've seen drastic increases, my avg went up to 13.9mph, hit a max of 25.2mph and my best time for 4.4 was 17:40.
However, all these numbers are thrown random bits with no structured training program. Am I supposed to be logging as many miles as I deem comfortable? Or should I structure a 3 times a week 10 miles, 3 times 5(recovery)? And as far as form training, what should I be doing? My body still somewhat moves when I pedal. Furthermore, should I be worried about my cadence and hence should get a cadence computer?
I know all of these might sound like over enthusiastic talk but I'd rather do a structured plan right off the bat with the needed gear instead of wondering and starting off wrong. Thanks in advance.
