I have started riding for fitness, I purchased an Advanti Discovery Hybrid and have been riding it between 50 and 400km per week.
In the last 3 months I have spent more money on the bike than it cost in the first place, I have had to replace the chain ring, bottom bracket, a tyre, have the wheels debuckled 3 times, get the back hub repaired, replace my pedals 3 times, and I still find the bikes starts making clunking sounds every few weeks which as I have no idea on bikes have to take in and get it looked at.
I the last 6 weeks I have been to the bike shop around 15 times.
Today will be the third time this week.
I know my bike is now a few years old (3 years) but I am amazed it costs so much to keep it going. Is this normal? What can I do to stop having to keep going back to the shop, I got it serviced, I try my best to look after it and get advice from the people at the bike shops but I still get more problems than I can handle.
I was wondering if this is normal? Should I buy a new bike and start again? or should I continue to get my current bike fixed? Is there anything I can do to reduce the number of problems I have with my bike? Should I buy a more expensive bike with better components? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
