I'm sure this is a hardy perennial here, but nevertheless I'm going to ask. Recommendations for cheap and cheerful heart rate monitor, please.
Needs to be mountable on handlebars (obv.) and to not go haywire every time it gets within half a mile of Wretch Fleming and his twin-turbo Polar. He did it to me /again/ at the Worlds. Sneaked up behind me and popped the reading up to 235. Doesn't need calorie counting, PC interface or free set of dancing girls (though the latter would be nice).
Oh, and anyone mentioning the word "Cardiosport" may find themselves dying in a ditch with an ordinary household fork buried tine-deep in their throat ;-)

I use a Polar S150 - comes with the bike mount free. It's coded, but still reacts to large electromagnetic forces (so don't ride past Asda if they have their new trolley anti-theft system!). Records exercise, but can't be linked to a PC. I seem to recall it costing about 120 quid six months ago.
