Thinking about buying a GPS and have looked through the websites and come up with a choice of the Geko 201 at £124 and the Etrex Venture at £114..Both include lead to the computer.. I know nothing about gps systems apart from what I have read in the manuals...Could anyone advise me which is the better buy or any other gps on the market that might be better...As I walk or cycle everywhere I do not need any facilities that are of use in a car...

To me the only advantage to the Venture is the battery life because it uses AAs rather than the AAAs used by the Geko. The Venture does have a larger display but is also larger and heavier than the Geko.
I have a Geko 201 and an older yellow eTrex. The eTrex isn't big but I almost never use it now because I prefer the smaller Geko. Carrying spare batteries for the Geko is also trivial due to their small size.
If I were you I would try to find a shop with both and have a play with them to see if you personally find an advantage in the size / screen. If not go for the cheaper option!

Go and have a look at Outside in Hathersage, they have GPS units you can play with.
Their website specifically mentions GPS but they don't have an on-line shop as such. From memory they do have a showroom so you can have a look at what they've got.
