Camping spots - Cairngorms from Braemar

Derry Lodge is terrific for camping, but don't expect seclusion. Corrour
can, unfortunately, be a bit of a toilet.

Loads of nice spots in that area though - just go with an open mind and
find a nice view!

I agree with druidh, Corrour can be a open sewer on busy weekends. Also, I
seem to remember a slight problem with rats near/or in the bothy.

We had a club meet to Luibeg Bridge (013943) at Easter, 1970 so there
should be space there for at least 6 tents if the stream hasn't changed
course in the intervening years.

We camped a few years ago a couple of hundred metres upstream from
Corrour, just by the river. A nice secluded spot, sheltered from the
weather, and far enough from the bothy that we could imagine it wasn't
there.

As druish says, there are lots of nice spots - it's mostly quite
grassy/heathery, with plenty of flattish areas.

I have camped at Derry lodge and there is lots of green here, if a little
uneven and lumpy due to pine roots. I am not sure how viable it would be
when the Dee is in spate though. There was also a bothy up there that you
could use, which isnt on the map.

From memory there isnt really a lot of option before that unless you dont
mind pitching on heather and bracken on the side.
