The driver apparently claimed to have spun out on ice...and, yet the
cyclists were out on the same road for a 50-miler on standard road bikes. I
find it somewhat hard to believe that cyclists would be able to negotiate
roads that were icy enough to spin out a car that was "just driving along".GG

were riding on roads with ice doesn't really address what happened with the
car traveling at speed on a curve with more mass (apologies to the
engineers/physicists if that's not the correct term). Apparently there was
an earlier accident in the same spot due to the ice. When it's you're time
it doesn't matter where you are or what you're doing. RIP. -

stretch in the shade can still be ice well after the rest of the road
is dry, and I'm guessing that most people that have ridden and driven
in places like Michigan on a sunny early Spring day have as well.
Fortunately for me, the worst I've had was hitting a patch on the bike
on a early spring ride in East Lansing and it was no more than a
bruise. And yes, after riding in the sun and on dry roads, hitting a
patch in the shade in a curve was a complete surprise, at least until

Shadows will do that. In hilly areas, there are always well-shaded icy
turns in Winter.I'm just commenting on the known info.
