Sun Glasses?

What is your 'reasonable' price? Everyone has different opinions.

i.e. if you can get a $200 pair of glasses for half price, is that reasonable? Or are you only looking at spending say $70?

What kind of coloured lenses are you looking for? etc.

BBB have a pretty good range of reasonably priced cycling glasses. Quite a few places sell them but they're not online so much.
I've been using a pair (Winner) for 6 months or so and find them pretty darn good. I've a pair of Oakleys and a pair of Nike but because neither has interchangeable lenses, I always go for the BBB's...can't tell the difference quality-wise once they're on, no distortion and the lenses are pretty easy to change.

Good point.

Say less than $100AUD - everyone likes a bargin so discounts are OK. I where a pair of REVO's at the moment. I paid $160 and that was half price. They are excellent glasses, but not great for riding as they don't grip the face and can fog up - plus I don't want to crash in them.

Looking at both bright light and low light lenses.

I dunno mate. I've experimented over the years a bit and keep coming back to Oakleys (M Frames). Yes they are expensive, however getting parts is easy, including new lenses as you might want them. Something to keep in mind if say you buy a cheap set today and then in a years time decide you want to add a lense or two. Besides you get features like vents in the heater lense to deal with misting.

I've got 3 lenses and standard M frames which I would guess I have around $400-500 invested in. I've had them for nearly 5 years, have canyoned, mountaineered, road cycled, mountain biked (including a few good over the bars crashes) and they are still trucking along. So the initial investment I made doesn't seem quite so bad.

Prices are pretty reasonably priced with even the multi lensed kits under $100 according to their website.

I used to wear them before i got some Rudy's and only changed as i needed the RX optical perscription inserts that Euro didn't have at the time.

Smith sunglasses have an excellent lense and interchangeable system. I've used Smith's for the last 5 or so years.

They come standard with three colours, 'sienna brown', orange and yellow. I find the sienna brown perfect as it is not a really dark lense, so it blocks out the glare in the middle of the day, and I often still have them on when others need to take them off as it is too dark for them. Perfect for keeping the wind out just after sunset.

Plus, they have a HUGE range of sunglasses with interchangeable lenses, so there is bound to be one that fits your head. Only problem is that they aren't as popular in Aus as they used to be so not ALL shops stock them like Oakley. But, if you find some at the right price then it's great. Looking at about $180ish or so for 3 lenses, so it's kinda like $60 for each.

haven't seen the sunnies stocked in syd but plenty of places stock their other stuff

i know blackman cycles and the place in nth parra that sells learsport stocks BBB stuff

I have a pair of the Euro sprint 2 and they work vey well, they have a semi reflective coating that can get scratched :o if you drop them on gravel.
A cheap but effective option is found at the hardware store, generally in the $15 range, Marlin have at least 3 different lens shades ( not interchangeable) good wrap around design to reduce squinting and from experiance I rarely damage a cheap pair of glasses. They work for me, fit very well are adjustable and are not ugly but of course cafe cred is low :eek:.

I got some ProRace glasses with 4 sets of lenses for around $20 from www.probikekit.com a few months ago, and they currently have a few options at this price. The glasses are a bit cheaply made (eg nose "cushions" kept slipping off, but I just glued them on) but the lenses are excellent. I use the pink lenses in almost any conditions (fine for sunny to cloudy weather) and the clear for dusk/night. Shipping is $18.99 per order, but if you are buying a bit of gear then the cheap prices make it worthwhile.

I've had BBB glasses for a while and I can't complain about them. If you can find them I recommend them.

i've had my BBB sprint sunnies for a month now and use them almost everyday....

bang for buck, they are great... cost me $60, came with 3 lenses, very comfy, clarity is excellent... can't complain about anything... one of the best fitting sunnies i've owned

now lets see how long i can keep them before misplacing them

Rebel Sports have them at least in the Melbourne City store. I think I'll get a pair as they come with an adjustable nose bridge. I have problems finding ones that fit, as most glasses sit too low on my face, especially when bent over on the bike.

I got my BBB ones (3 lenses) at Anaconda for $25. They are so far the only pair of sunnies I have ever bought that are actually comfortable out of the box (I have a crooked nose). Very light, good optical quality, easy lens interchangability.

I find that Rudy Project are the best glasses I've try. Their lense's are unmatch in my opinion. There about dozen or so lenses to chose from. But they're pricey ($200+). But you get what you pay for. I had mine for three years now and I think I've got my moneys worth. 😄
