  1. Sorry about posting so much but i fell i'm among a great MB wealth of information guys.
Helmets, helmets, helmets;what do you guys use ?,since i didn't know much about helmets i bought a cheapo for $15 ...now i find out that the helmets with the liner molded in are better than the ones that are "two piece" helmets basically held together by some black vinyl tape.Should i ditch my "cheapo" in the favor of a better build but not necesarily a better brand (mine is a generic type) ?,what's a good and durable "one" piece bike helmet ?
    Thank you🙂

  2. I used to sell sporting goods before I retired and married my bike.

Cheapo helmets are made for one thing...one good solid crash. They will likely protect you, but if you bonk your head on something solid good and hard, replace it.

Helmets of higher quality are made to take abuse on a day to day basis such as bumping against trees, etc.

I always recommended for skateboarding or mountain biking that people get the helmets that better protect the ear area. Think of them as military style where they curve down over the top of the ear. I am not endorsing Bell (although I would) but this link shows some.

A mountain biker is more likely to land such as to damage this area than a road biker who is almost surely either going over the handlebars or directly left or right.

  3. I can't open it.
Thank you about the tip on ear protection,i never even thought about that ...i learn so much hanging around here...Thanks jtfleming.

  4. Well now i want one of those molded type and they seem to vary in price from about $45 US and up (Schwinn sells their Rocket model for $39.99 CND but i would like to ckeck other brands too before i buy,i need 2).
Psycho,do you have access to discounted molded helmets ?
    Thank you

  5. Today me and my GF had a day off from work so we looked around and found that Schwinn actually has the best price on molded helmets.I picked up one for my GF (Rocket series) for only $ 39.99 Cnd ( 29.99 US) and for myself the Atlas version for $ 69.99 Cnd or about $ 45.00 US.I was very impresed with the quality ,fit and finish. The Schwinn helmets in fact have better finish than Bell and Giro we just looked before we got ours. The Bell and Giro start from $ 150 and up (and that because the sales person knoked off 25% from the sticker price....purelly insane or just hiway robbery !).
    Thanks everyone for the help.
