  1. Parked at the Grey Mares Tail car park at 8:30 am with the thermometer
reading -7C and with a brisk breeze it felt a lot colder. Took the
path up by the frozen waterfall ( about 90% frozen with some water
flowing over heavy ice build up ). Crossed the burn above the fall
and headed up by the wall then directly to the summit of White Coomb ~
Stunning views with spectacular clarity ~ and then found I had left
the camera at home. No worry though as I am currently testing a Nokia
N70 smart phone so took a quick picture of my walking partner Frank at
the summit. The result can be seen below and on a random sample of 1
shot it looks like I could leave the camera behind permanently and
    just use the phone.

We then moved the car round to the Megget stone and took the long slow
rise to Broad Cairn. The map shows a "beacon" next to the summit and
this is in fact part of the air traffic control network and an amazing
piece of engineering at over 2500 ft. Back to the car by 2 pm and
off to the Crook Inn and a lovely coal fire ( gas but looked great ) a
sandwich and a coffee and then home for 4:30pm ~ back to work
    tomorrow though :-(

That's better than the few pictures I managed to take with my proper
(ditigal) camera earlier in the week. I find that the batteries hate
the cold, so I have to swap them from pocket to camera whenever I want
to take a photo....... and then the photo is cr*p anyway!

Perhaps I just need a new phone?!

    <snip>

Not bad, for a web photo. Now print it out at normal 5x4 (ish) and see
what it's like then. And try a photo when the conditions aren't ideal -
    backlit or something.

Sorry, I'm keeping my 4Mp and 10x optical zoom on me!

At a guess - Fuji S5500? Same features.
