I like that bike and have been considering it, so I looked at the closed auctions on ebay. No 2001s there, but the 2002s were in the $900 range, so it sounds reasonable.

It may be a sign that it's a good bike if people don't want to sell.

I purchased a 2001 Allez comp and have never looked back. After riding many other makes over the years, This is a real joy to ride. Climbing is responsive, handling is A1. I think the new E5 S-Works must be like driving a ferrari or something...
