Okay, Christmas/Chanukah/Hannukah/Kwanzaa is almost over. We still have to
get through Hogmanay (happy new year!). After that there isn't anything to
really celebrate, unless you count Valentines Day... For that, bake two
round cakes... cut one in half and wrap it around the other round cake to
form a heart. Frost it. Put some halved strawberries on the top. Say "I
love you" and you're done.
Now, we're up to Easter. April. Probably. You never know. No one really
knows when Easter is. Okay. Boil some eggs. You don't want soft boiled
eggs, which OB food: are delicious for breakfast with a little butter, salt
& pepper. Serve with buttered wheat toast to sop up the egg yolk.
But no, for this you want hard boiled eggs. Dip them in weird dye stuff to
change the colour of the shells. (Be sure to criticize people who do the
same thing to their hair. Blue?! Purple?!) If you want to get really cool
with this, attach funny stickers or sprinkle them with glue and glitter
sparkles.
Now run around in the dark and hide these eggs under bushes and in trees.
It's the very adult thing to do. All your neighbors are doing it. Make a
map so you know where they are...so when you send the kiddies out to hunt
for eggs they don't wander off and get captured to work in Santa's workshop
until next December. They pretend they are 'elves' but elves are too smart
to work in a toyshop at the North Pole. It's too friggin cold up there.
