We don't do the gift thing, we buy stuff for the house and pets.

Do you happen to mean the city of St. Louis, Missouri? I was raised in the county and used to live out in the country beyond the county and city.
My mom's side of the family is all from the same area, in nearby Washington (Missouri). Well, they lived in a teeny weeny place called Gray Summit for a while, and a few relatives are in Hermann, which I hear is wine country now. In fact, I just buried mom in a cemetery in New Haven near Hermann. I admit I never did like St. Louis proper, but the surrounding area is lovely.

I was raised in the Bridgeton area and went to Pattonville High, but back when it was actually on the Rock Road right across from Northwest Plaza. Of course I was going to school there before the plaza was even built. LOL I used to go to lots of parties in the Kirkwood area, but then I had friends all over the place. :-)

You will love the train I think. Many people use it from the St. Louis area so they don't have to worry about driving and drinking. It seems to work out well, or did when we were in the area. We used one of the vets in hermann when we lived in the Gerald area. Be sure to check out a couple of the bakeries when you are there...great ones, German baked goods.

Just north of Jeff City? I go thru there at least once a year on my way to the Ozarks (Osage Beach or Branson). The Mc Donald's there has the big golden arches like you used to see in the '60's.
