Oh, if I could plonk using Google Groups I'd be in heaven!! My local
group has had spam from Bushistas go up 1000% in the last year.

Might be time to move back to Pan or Free-agent. :/

If you use Free Agent as your news reader (as I do) it's easy to
ignore specific threads and/or posters. It is (IMHO) a great product
compared to the Microsoft version.

Use your newsreader to read the groups instead of Google. Then you can
scrape the slime off of your shoes with a single click.

Can't say about Google, but my (Mac) usenet client Thoth, allows for
some quite extensive filtering - filter by Path, Host, Reference,
X-trace, and the contents of a dozen more headers. Perhaps it's time to
consider a dedicated usenet app.

Google Groups is pretty convenient when reading/posting from different
computers. I can read/post from work, home or school and Google groups
will keep track of my messages. It does have its downfalls though: No
sig, No spell check, No filters.........

A free newsreader for win/mac/*nix is Pan, and it's excellent, BUT I
have a feeling the OP is using GG for the same reasons I like it:
portability and convenience.

I do miss my killfile though. My plonking finger's gettin' a bit weak.

threading in Usenet works, don't you?

You do realize how ridiculous BOTH those statements are, right? (Hint: how

Before you completely resign yourself to just putting up with the
creep, remember that you can forward the complete post with headers to
[email hidden], [email hidden] and [email hidden]
with a (preferably terse) note that this abuse has been going on for
an extended period. If those abuse handlers get enough gripes, they
*might* do something about the poster. If nobody gripes, they don't
even know there's a problem.
