Cycling along a flat road last night and I came across what looked to be a puddle on the side of the road. Thinking nothing of it I cycled straight through. Unfortunately the puddle was concealing a very large pot hole and I must have gone over it at about 15-16 mph. Both my presta valve tyres punctured immediately.
I dismounted from the bike immediately. Fortunately I was very close to home so was I able to carry the bike back - although that probably didn't do my cleats any good! My bike is a Giant TCR2 which I've only had a couple of weeks so I'm still in the 'ultra-protective mode' of having a new bike. I was wondering what other possible damage could have been caused other than the tubes bursting? Is a big pot-hole collision such as that likely to damage wheels or any other part of the bike? I can't see any obvious signs of damage to either wheel but wondered if there was something I should be looking for?
If nothing is obvious you are probably O.K. Turn the wheels on the bike and make sure they are still true. I remeber years ago I hit a pot hole hard on an old Schwinn Road bike. The tire did not puncture but the rim took a hard hit and bent. The problem with the wheel was immediately obvious. Good luck.

Check wheels for trueness and rims for damage. It is possible to hit a pothole hard enough to bend a rim. Check tires as well for gashes. Most likely your bike is OK and just suffered pinch flats.
