Dinner tonight

I got home this afternoon. Took Ramsey to the vet's office and got some really bad news. The vet thinks he has FIP which is fatal. Anyway, Steven made a huge pot of chili tonight and it is really good. He even spiced it up a bit just for me. I was so bummed by the vet's visit. The chili did cheer me up. I got home this afternoon. Took Ramsey to the vet's office and got some
really bad news. The vet thinks he has FIP which is fatal.
Anyway, Steven made a huge pot of chili tonight and it is really good. He
even spiced it up a bit just for me. I was so bummed by the vet's visit.
The chili did cheer me up. I was going to make corn bread but I just
wasn't in the mood.

old is Ramsey? and which one is he again?
Ramsey is about 7 months old. He is the newest in the ever growing pack of
hounds and cats we have.

The vet "thinks" he has FIP? IIRC, that what the vet "thought" before.
Can't he be more specific? Right about now I'd be visiting a second or third
vet. Leave no stone unturned.

We've both been sick with the flu since Saturday, but I did make chili on
Friday night. It was really good, but not good enough to kill the flu. <g>

If this is a cat, don't him him notice your negativity. He'll live a long
healthy life. I think it was Andrew Weil who said that when doctors tell
patients they have X number of months to live, it's a curse. The cat might
not know he's sick.
If it's a dog....well....never mind.

A presumptive diagnosis of FIP can usually be made on the basis of clinical
signs, routine laboratory tests, and evaluation of abdominal or chest
fluid. Some cases, however, present a diagnostic challenge, since the signs
of illness are not distinct for FIP. In all cases, a tissue biopsy is the
only way to absolutely confirm a diagnosis of FIP.
I would insist on something more definitive than what you've been given.

past couple of days, too. Michael, isn't FIP contageous? I need to
look it up. I think I'll do a google.

Yes it's contageous and I'm now worried about Hoot and Bart. They are not
showing any signs of it so far and we've had Ramsey well over a month. I'm
in a better mood this morning. I've done some research on it. He does not
have the "wet" FIP which is a good sign. Whatever the outcome, he is much
better off with us than in a cage somewhere.
