  1. I've got a friend who's showing signs of becoming a properly addicted
cyclist. The MTB he's been using is too small and I'd like to help him build
up a passable roadie with limited means. He's about 5'9" so I'm guessing
about a 54cm frame? Anyone got a bike/frame/bits they want to get rid of
    cheap?

I've got an older Graecross frame about that size... no forks or any other bits though, so it'd require a fair bit of work though...

although it does have horizontal dropouts so you could just throw him straight into the deep end and make a fixie for him...

Heh, don't tempt me. And to set the goalposts, this is exceedingly cheap. He's struggling a bit at the moment or I'd be looking thorough Ebay and the trading post for him. I seem to recall that Graecross is more like 55cm? That's the sort of thing though. I've got some 12spd Shimano Exage bits hanging about so with wheels and brakes we could be away.

    $100? $200? $500? $1000?

We may have a 2nd hand roadbike at the shop, I'll have a look on
    Wednesday.

i just checked it again - it's 55cm top tube, 54cm seat tube... If you want it, it's yours for nix... i've also got some older side pull (and centrepull) brakes around here too with bundles of levers and a couple of drop bars...

We could probably scrape $100. This is sort of a beer bike project.

I've got some spare bits in the shed that can be traded for beers. If the frame etc from eddiec will fit, we could get it going. We'll talk @ Goat.

Yay. He's been hit out of the blue with $3k worth of dentist bills so this
might be something of a Xmas pressie from me. It's the guy who came to Goat
with me once...dunno if you were there.
