ChrisI don't have a recipe, so forgive me for butting in here. Not to
distract from your question (which is why I changed the subject line),
but I'm wondering is Italian Dressing actually Italian?I've never been to Italy, but I have been to Monaco, which is right next
door and culinarily speaking, borrows a lot from Italy. I've never seen
Italian Dressing served there. Salads were usually just oil and vinegar.Anyone know if this type of dressing actually originates in Italy, or is
it really from somewhere else? -
perhaps it's the spice combination and Italian is actually oil and vinegar.
although Thousand Island makes you think 🙂"PastaLover" <[email hidden]> wrote in message

I didn't know "vinaigrette" was italian. I thought it was french.
BTW I don't like it. For my salad I use only good EVOO , tarragon vinegar,
salt and some drops of garlic oil (that I make).
Cheers and thank you for the answer

Prolly no French dressing across Monaco's other border, either. Does
make one wonder where some of the names come from.sd

With all of the HFCS there is total synergy with those bottled
"spaghetti sauces" -

PandoraYou are correct. It is a modern bottled product that much like bottled
"spaghetti sauce" contains a large amount of sugar and has little other
taste.Quoted message said:

Here is another
ITALIAN SALAD DRESSING MIX
Yield: About 2/3 cup1 1/2 tablespoons dried oregano
1 1/2 tablespoons dried basil

3/4 tablespoon dried dill weed
3/4 tablespoon dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Dash cayenne pepperCombine all herbs and spices thoroughly.
To make Italian salad dressing, combine 1 1/2 tablespoons herb mix
with 1/4 cup vinegar, 2 1/2 tablespoons water, and 3/4 cup oil in a
dressing bottle or a jar with tight-fitting lid. Shake well. let stand
for at least 1 hour to blend flavors. -

that one person could love some seasonings and dressings. It depends on
different tastes.

Olive oil, Balsamic vinegar and a few "Italian" herbs such as basil,
oregano, garlic, thyme.
