because Peppadew(tm) is a brand name. They are (generically) properly
called "piquanté peppers." And hot damn, they are good!
I discovered them about 6 mo ago in the deli spread at Stop n Shop.
There was no name and I thought they were pickled cherry peppers,
mildly hot and sweet, soft and crispy. I was so smitten with them I
brought some to work to share.
This weekend an out-of-town friend was visiting and while we were in
Whole Foods, she said she wanted to see if they had this new treat
that was a cross between a tomato and a pepper that she couldn't
reliably find back home. Surprizingly they did have them (at the
olive bar, no less) and they turned out to be the little peppers I
liked. I was amazed that we both independently, 400 mi apart, fell
for these things.
Investigating on the web I found this:

Try them if you get a chance!
