  1. I have a SRM Pro (powercontrol V). I ran into a few issues trying to get the software to work. The first one is that I have repeatedly followed the steps of installing the software and I still can't get the powercontrol to talk to my cpu however it will charge the powercontrol when the usb cable is plugged in. I have taken all the necessary steps in ALL FAQ's and still nothing works. During this time of troubleshooting, I noticed that my power and cadence doesn't appear on my powercontrol unit now. It worked perfectly fine earlier.... I have a full weeks of data with it working. Now, the powercontrol will not even allow me to "zero offset". Nothing happens when I try to do this function. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Are you using an IBM compatible PC?
Are you using a usb/serial adapter?
Are you saying your usb connector also is the charger? I have a separate charger from my PC connection to the SRM, but mine is also a year old.

    Woofer,

Yes, I'm using an IBM compatible pc.
Yes, it's a usb/serial adapter. I've downloaded the proper driver and it is recognized through my pc, but not the software. It is recognized through cyclingpeakssoftware, but I still can't download through it.
I have a seperate charger for my powercontrol but my usb/serial adapter charges the powercontrol once it's plugged in.

I have installed and un-installed the programs, that's what so frustrating about the deal. The newest frustration is now I can't even click on the "off set" on my powercontrol and the watts and cadence seem to be missing. Hopefully, SRM will give me some insight tomorrow morning.

    Sorry.

I have the now defunct (but only one year old) serial port style.

So you hold down SET and MODE and it doesn't show the current offset setting and the current offset value? That's weird. One time that happened to me, too, and I was a bit worried but then it fixed itself somehow. Can you hold down PRO and MODE at the same time to view your available charge and memory?

If I just click on MODE when the SRM is not plugged into anything it shows me the display with Watts, cadence, HR, Speed. Is that working for you?

Some folks have had trouble connecting using the USB connector - no experience there.

You may want to ask on the topica wattage forum as well if you don't get help from SRM soon. Once you start communicating with them, I get a very quick response with SRM in the USA.

The crazy thing is that it has worked fine for the previous week. I still couldn't get the software to work, but the powercontrol and the powermeter worked perfectly. As for (mode + set), nothing pops up except (time, heartrate and speed), where as before I had my calibration. I can still see the battery information when I press (pro + mode) and it still allows me to do the necessary setup options by pressing (pro + set + mode). One other thing that I have noticed is that the heart rate will have a number even when I'm just sitting here by my cpu, no strap or nothing remotely close to me and the powercontrol and it's spitting off numbers (34, 120, 16, 38).
