  1. Reportedly doing better (but who really knows). It would be nice to see him
    competitive again.

If he's competitive that's cool, but if he's finally got a handle on
dealing with his life that's even better. We don't need another tragedy
and he looked like a good candidate for it for quite a while.

Lots of "ifs." It would be very good if he could be competitive again. Not
    very likely though.

What is he now, like 33, 34? The window of opportunity is rapidly
closing. He'll have his shot, though, as Unibet should be a wild card
to most of his favorite races. My 2 cents: even without VDB they'd be a
    better ProTour squad than Ag2r.

    dumbass,

laffery and bill are [censored] for all this "let's see how he does"
talk. because they know he'll impolde.

panache or desire doesn't give you the ability to drag race bartoli up
and redoute and ride flat out for 30kms, the oxygen carrying ability
    that EPO gives you does.

it's apparent that VDB's entire career depended on doped. doping
control i think has really cut down on the most convenient and powerful
doping methods, and he's 32 next year. at best he's only going to have
    flashes here and there.

  6. I thought you hated dopers? But it appears that you're willing to give
VDB a pass? I don't get it. Harangue a man that has never tested
positive in competition (Armstrong) but would be interested in seeing
    VDB make a comeback?

Depends on how you look at it. Heras, already a 3 time Vuelta winner,
evidently used EPO in "winning" his fourth Vuelta. He apparently thought the
risk of getting caught was much smaller than his chances of winning the race
or trashing his reputation. Also, how many people are likely to believe that
the '05 Vuelta was the first time he used EPO? Or that if he used EPO, would
    he use other banned products?

Hate dopers? No. I dislike cheating. Now explain to me how VDB is any
different from any other top rider in today's peloton. Recent positives
and/or doping findings include, Heras, Hamilton, Museeuw, Perez, Virenque,
Zulle, Millar, and Armstrong to name but a very few.

Not a pass. He's in the same boat as everyone else as far as I'm concerned.

Armstrong has a positive EPO finding. So it looks to me like VDB and
Armstrong are somewhat equal, except that VDB's wife is arguably more
    attractive than Armstrong's honey.

    give it up......

    Throw in the towle, Dave.

  11. I'm trying to think back...hmmm, when was the last time someone tried to make me feel bad by calling me "Towel"?

I'm thinking about 1981, 9th grade or so. Everyone grew up, and stopped being mean for the sake of being mean. I've watched you do your best to try to humiliate people, but all you've done is made yourself look like a coward. See a shrink, and grow up.

Lance doesn't care about you, and I bet if we took a poll here, you'd find you have the credibility of a crack [censored].

I know you find joy in making people mad at you, but sorry bud, it's just sad.

    Have a nice night 🙂

There is no cheating in professional competition. It is a
free for all with selective enforcement by the governing
bodies, who only enforce rules through outside pressure
(another free for all) or because they want to influence
results, or because the plain dislike some athlete or some
team. Professional athletes in the main only see other
athletes as the competition and will do what it takes to
    win.

There, that's better. No worries about cheating.

Oh, don't feel bad. The 9th graders here are always making Laff@me jokes.
It going with the rbr territory.

  14. Finally someone says something worth while!!!!

What do you other guys call cheating? doing something that gives you
    an advantage over everyone else?

    dumbass,

cheating is by definition breaking the rules. if it's not against the
    rules it isn't cheating.

the only grey area is that officials have to sometimes make a judgement
call about whether a rule is being broken.

He just turned 31 in November. People seem to forget he already was a
pro at age 19 (and he broke his first contract at 20). He rode his best
    seasons when he was 23-24.
After Museeuw turned 31 (the day of his WC title) he still won
Flanders, Roubaix (twice), Het Volk (twice), E3, HEW and the Brabantse
Pijl. Given the fact that VDB has so much more pure talent and the EPO
test is under serious pressure, he might make the biggest come back
since a Texan cyclist survived cancer. I would say the 2008 Varese
    world champion is already known.

Kenny (a die hard VDB believer)

  17. Wow. You seem to know a lot about it. With comments like that I'm
surprised you haven't got a job at the UCI.
So... if that is what cheating is, then LA cheated when he cut that
corner in 03... yet the commissaires decided it wasn't "cheating" as he
didn't get an "unfair advantage". I'm sorry, I'm lost an confused,
could you try and explain to me one more time what cheating is.

The main point being that if cheating = an unfair advantage, then
"doping" is debatable wether it is an unfair advantage or not...

OK, i might be a little naive about the future of VDB, but i'm no
    idiot.

  20. Doesn't doping = cheating? If so, then you hate dopers. Because they
are cheaters. I don't like them either, but then again, I guess I don't
take this stuff as serious as you do. VDB is not any different than any
of the other sanctioned dopers in the pro peloton, although, he does
seem to have some more serious mental health issues than the rest,
except for maybe Pantani, and he's no longer around to kick when down.

Armstrong's "positive finding" as you call it is very much in question.
I know maybe not to you, but to most of the rest of the world it is,
and believe me when I say, I'm not a very big Armstrong fan at all. The
entire EPO testing process is under indictment after it has been proven
to not be accurate (the Belgian tri guys who got off). The testing,
while the best that we have right now, I think needs to be re-tooled,
and re-evaluated. The testers and the labs are saying, but it's the
best, it's accurate, and then you have findings to the contrary. Why
can't these guys admit that possibly they may be wrong and need to do
some more work on it to make it airtight?

Never seen VDB's wife, so can't comment on that one.
