TWIN FALLS -- Officials say tests on an Idaho woman show she died of a form of the brain-wasting Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease that's not linked to the consumption of mad-cow-tainted beef.
She was one of three confirmed CJD deaths in Idaho this year, and the second confirmed with classic CJD.
The other form is variant CJD and is caused by eating tainted beef.
Officials say they expect results on the third confirmed CJD death by the end of this month on whether it was the classic or variant form.
To date, there have been no confirmed deaths of the variant form of CJD in Idaho, and only one in the United States.

I couple of weeks back, I read a news story which said that a variant had been found in deer and (I think) elk out west. Not good.
