When my daughter was in first grade, her teacher lived at the school.
Honest. She told us so. In the morning when she went to school, her
teacher was there. In the afternoon when she left, her teacher was
there. At the school carnival, open house and back to school night, her
teacher was there. Every time she went to school, her teacher was there.

A friend once went on a business trip for a week or so. She told me that
at some point during the trip she called home to check in with her
husband and kids. Her youngest was probably 3 or 4 at the time, and
after talking with him for a few minutes, it dawned on her that he
thought she was on the plane the whole time. Because that was the last
place he saw her--getting on the plane.

Kids that age are wonderful! Their view of the world is so interesting.

I live in the Phoenix area. America West airlines is merging with US Air
and this is sort of a typical news item....

That is cute. My two-year-old thinks his siblings ride around on the school
bus all day, since he just watches them get on in the a.m. and off again in
the p.m. :-) Right now, he's envious of the whole deal.

Nothing to do with kids, but...

Before DH and I retired, I think the dog had the same kind of thought
process going on.

We'd get in the car in the morning and leave, then arrive back home in
the car at 5:30.

Then a couple of times we had to go somewhere for the day and take her
with us. Get in the car and drive for 3 hours. Visit with some people
for 2 hours. Get back in the car and drive for 3 hours, and now we're
home.

I think she decided that that's what we did for a living.

We have a 3 year old grandling who woke up one morning and decided
that she was a superhero: Captain Carlos! Captain Carlos saves babies
and kittens. Her birthday is Tuesday and I've sewn her a red cape
with shiny red lining and had the embroidery lady stitch "Captain
Carlos" on the it in bright yellow thread.

Where she got the name, "Captain Carlos," was a mystery until I
googled "Captain Carlos." Seems he's a character on a Disney channel
show who is an ordinary boy until he eats healthy food and turns
into...
