  1. I was wondering if anyone had a favorite recipe for pretzels. I using make a
    yeast dough, and then shape the pretzels, boil them in water with baking
    soda (although a German woman suggested lye), and sprinkle salt, and bake in
    an oven of about 400 until they turn golden brown.

    If you use lye make sure you get a food grade lye. Even if you can
    find food grade lye it is still dangerous and can be poisonous if used
    incorrectly.

    I use the recipe from JOC (Joy of Cooking). It works great, and
    makes terrific bagels as well.
