  2. I don't get who he is supposed to be calling out with the blockquoted

    First, Boonen is as into the Tour de France as anyone else. He's
    obviously not a GC contender, but he was clearly at his best during the
    first week of racing.

    Second, other than the now retired Armstrong, all the big GC guys at
    this year's TdF had or are gunning for big wins outside the Tour.

    Why not use the award to question the accuracy of the ProTour rankings'
    ability to select the "best" rider in any given year? DiLuca is a
    deserving winner, but certainly his dominance was debatable.
