I know this doesn't answer your question, but unless you're doing something crazy, you should be covered by warranty. And I quote:

A "large crack in the top tube" ?? I'd say it's a bin job, or a wall decoration to remind you how not to treat a lightweight frame. :p

I've got a titanium wall hanging for just that reason. :o

Thie bike is for sale so I'm not sure how it occured-thought I might be able to pick up a bargain but I am now thinking it would be better if it was someone elses problem. Thanks for your replies.
