Bash guards help!

First of all, you need to know the bolt count and spread for your cranks.

Do you want a bashring to go with your triple or one to replace the 42/44?

The LX on my K2 is a four bolt-104mm setup. Popped off the big ring and replaced it with a RaceFace
bashring. Basically the same on my Kona, but with a TruVativ setup. I *think* that the Alivio is
five bolt....

Go to a good bike shop and have them measure your setup. Then you can search locally and online for
UK dealers that carry or can order the size and type you want.

The Altus crankset uses middle and outer rings that are forged to each other. Not sure about
Alivio, but I have a feeling it's the same. Check your crankset to see if your chainrings are
individually removable
- if not, you're out of luck.

Alternatively, if you're looking for that sort of thing and you need to upgrade your crankset, have
a look at either FSA or Truvativ's ranges which include bashguards. You can get a whole new chainset
with bashguard and BB for under a hundred nicker.

Also have a look at what Blackspire offers, been using their bashguard for ages with no problems.

And if they're welded/riveted, can always just grind the teeth off the outer ring on a bench grinder
