    Most Offspring Died
    When Mother Rats
    Ate GM Soy

The Russian scientist planned a simple experiment to see if eating
genetically modified (GM) soy might influence offspring. What she got,
however, was an astounding result that may threaten a multi-billion
    dollar industry.

Irina Ermakova, a leading scientist at the Institute of Higher Nervous
Activity and Neurophysiology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS),
added GM soy flour (5-7 grams) to the diet of female rats. Other
females were fed non-GM soy or no soy at all. The experimental diet
began two weeks before the rats conceived and continued through
    pregnancy and nursing.

Ermakova's first surprise came when her pregnant rats started giving
birth. Some pups from GM-fed mothers were quite a bit smaller. After 2
weeks, 36% of them weighed less than 20 grams compared to about 6% from
the other groups (see photo below).

But the real shock came when the rats started dying. Within three
weeks, 25 of the 45 (55.6%) rats from the GM soy group died compared to
    only 3 of 33 (9%) from the non-GM soy group and 3 of 44 (6.8%) from the
    non-soy controls.

    *****

    Combined Soy group - 28 deaths total from a population of 78 = 35.9%

    Non Soy group - 3 deaths for a population of 44 = 6.8%

You cannot visually tell the difference between GM and non-GM soybeans.

I would avoid all soy, since they are not real food anyways.

Nope, you should not massage the data that way.
    Here are the actual findings:
55.6% of the GM soy fed group died.
9% of the non-GM soy group died.
    6.8% of non-soy group died.

This makes a strong case for not eating
GM soy. It does not make a case for not
    eating soy.

  3. You can not tell if the meat you are eating was fed gm foods by the way it
looks. You can not tell if the meat you are eating was also gm itself by
the way it looks. And the parade goes on...

When you pour yourself a tall glass of soy "milk" and kick back to
drink it, or you chow down on a tofu burger, how are you going to
determine whether it is GM soy or not. You will have absolutely no way
of knowing whether it is a GM variety or not. Therefore you really
ought to do what I did, and calculate your total exposure and total
risk when consuming any and all soybean products.

Hence, understanding the actual risks inherent in consumig a soy
product is extremely important and the following applies:

Combined Soy groups (GM and non-GM) - 28 deaths total from a population
    of 78 = 35.9%
    Non Soy group - 3 deaths for a population of 44 = 6.8%

You cannot tell me that eating meat from an animal who was fed gm grain
    is harmful.

But I can tell you that if you consume ANY soy you will have this much
risk compared to not consuming ANY soy:

Combined Soy groups (GM and non-GM) - 28 deaths total from a population

    of 78 = 35.9%
    Non Soy group - 3 deaths for a population of 44 = 6.8%

Sure someone can, can you show it is not?

"But I can tell you that if you consume ANY soy you will have this much
risk compared to not consuming ANY soy:"

Sure you can, for one study in a rat model, if it is valid for animals in
general, including our meat sources and we humans, we should see the same
pattern on a widespread basis; do we?

According to the www.rense.com site, the GM Soy used was Monsanto
Roundup Ready soy - modified by having bacterial genes spliced in that
allow the soy plant to survive applications of Monsanto's Roundup
herbicide. ~85% of US soy production comes from this variety of soy.

NO organic soy (the kind of soy I eat enthusiastically)
comes from this source. The above is a good reason to
to eat organic soy. It is not a reason to avoid organic
    soy.

Why didn't you say so in the first place, this is all the evidence anyone
needs to reach that conclusion, thanks.

It is as useful as anything you've ever posted, troll.
