Roger, If your coming from a good road bike and/or are looking for a fast bike then you will
probably will be dissappointed with the EZ-1 except for the comfort. However if you currently just
cruise around on a MTB or "comfort" bike or don't ride the EZ-1 is a fun comfortable and easy to
learn recumbent that will probably get you addicted and wanting for more. Atleast thats what my
first bent a BikeE did for me. The EZ series are inexpensive and fairly simple (easy to repair) and
easy to learn so they make good first bents. If you are looking for something a little lighter and
faster and are not intimidated but a little longer learning curve a bike such as a used Rocket or
Vision R-40 are not much more and will be faster and better suited to longer rides once you get
into it. Craig

My best suggestion is not to buy the bottom rung. Unless, of course, that is what you can only afford. I bought a BikeE when I was going to get bent because it was all I could afford. I always looked for something better. The BikeE told me a lot about what I liked and what I didn't about bent riding. When I bought my current bicycle, I bought according to what I wanted. I am no longer looking for any other ride.

The EZ-1 is a great entry level recumbent from Sun Bicycles..... I bought one, and my LBS guy
strongley recommended I go one step up to the EZ-Sport model instead...... I let price be my guide,
and I rode the EZ-1 for a year.....

In that year I became a fit person, and started to out ride that 16/20 inch tire combination....
I went to the EZ-Sport model with the 20/26 tires, and just love the boost in speed with the
same effort...

My LBS guy says the reason he sells more EZ-1 bikes versus the Sport or the Tour Easy is strictly a
price thing.... People are willing to spend $595 on the EZ-1 versus $1000 on a Sport or $1895 of the
Tour Easy......

Craig suggested the Rocket or the R-40, both great bents...... I think his point about buying a good
used bent to save on cash out put is well taken, but I'd like to add this one thought about how much
a person might spend on a recumbent......

I was a type 2 diabetic..... By riding the bent daily, along with a proper diet, the doctor took me
off all medication.....

I started to ride on a mountain bike for exercise..... I got that buzz in my hands, and a sore seat
as my mileage started to go up..... The LBS had a few bents on the floor when I stopped by one day
for a tube to fix a flat on the mtb... One quick ride around the area on a bent, and I knew this was
for me!......

The EZ-Sport bent with fenders and a computer, $1000....... The way I now feel, PRICELESS!.......;-)

T.A....... Bent now, but no longer broken! ;-)

What you have just expressed is the precurser of an incureable disease more insidious than "cat
scratch fever" and more incureable than "rabies": The dreaded RECUMBENTITIS.

I have an EZ-1 SC Lite and it is a keeper. I decided to pay the extra bucks for the better
components and the 3# or so less weight. I think that it was worth it. I am sure that the steel bike
is just as nice a ride. I have ridden my EZ-1 on several centuries and commuted on it as well. I
have been thinking about putting on some under seat racks for panniers to give me some cargo room.

On mine I shimmed up the front of the seat about .5" because I tended to slip off the front of the
seat. I also put some foam water pipe insulation on the lower crossbar of the seat back to keep it
from mashing into my tail bone.

After you buy the EZ-1 you will progress to ever more expensive bikes. You will know when you have
achieved "final placement syndrome" when you find yourself on the phone discussing a TiRush with
Gardner Martin. At that point it will useless for any of your loved ones to save you.

You will berate yourself as you lay in bed late at night trying to fall asleep, "If I had only
bought the Ti Rush first I would have "saved" a TON of money.

PS If you are strapped for cash buy a used GRR. I did and I am astounded by that the way that pile
of aluminum tubing performs. It is so nice that my TiRush cravings have subsided some.

There are really many ways to go about it, and you can learn from mistakes.

You can do a lot of research, test riding, and finally buy your dream bent for a good bunch of $$$.
Next year you want a new dream bent because of this and that...

Test ride as many different ones as you can until you know which one will be yours.

I went to the shop thinking of getting an EZ Sport, and loved the way it handled as my first test
ride. After riding other styles & models I knew that the Sport wouldn't keep me happy. I went for a
Tour Easy.

I looked up a review for the Super Cruser, sounds like a decent entry level recumbent, with some
performance issues. I strongly suggest you look at the EZ-1 Lite, and have included some of the

EZ-1 SC is a good choice for the price. If you can afford more the step up an notch or two. Happy
