  1. Is this normal? I was at the little store down the street and walked by
where they have "Mexican" foodstuffs. I saw these oval cans of Smoked
Sardines in Tomato Sauce. HUH? Is this a big Mexican thing? I've never
seen anything like it even in large grocery stores. I'm sorry, I shuddered
    and kept on walking.

I've eaten regular sardines in tomato sauce many times. And some sardines in
mustard sauce, and with jalapeños. Smoked sounds even better to me. I believe
down in 'real' Mexico, bordered by the Gulf and the Pacific, fish are an
    important part of the diet.

Canned fish is a popular Hispanic food, Goya carries quite a selection.
I love those sardines/herring in oval tins. You don't know what good
    is. <g>

Sounds good to me, I'll have to look for it.

Now this is just too weird. I saw them the other day at our local
Publix and couldn't remember seeing them before.
Now Pete mentioned snacking on herring in cream sauce while cooking
supper - that was my snack growing up in my Danish household in
    Atlanta. Yum!
    Back to lurking.

Let's hope they don't turn it into a soda flavor!

The ones that are sold around here come from Portugal, IIRC.

Ugh, I get sick just thinking about those Thanksgiving sodas, it's
just wrong. Gag. Brussels sprouts on ice, anyone?

You forgot either cheese sauce or balsamic vinegar in that bottle, Nance.

I've seen the same in the MI stores I've shopped in. I only noticed
them because one DS loves sardines so I was comparison pricing US vs CDN.

Dunno about Mexican food, but I've seen smoked sard. in tom. around here in
the UK, and unsmoked ones just about in every supermarket I've ever been in.
    Bloody nice they are too.

Shaun aRe - Get them in curry sauce, sweet chilli [sic], all sorts. Same
    with mackerel.
