Apologies in advance if this is an overdone topic, but I didn't see a lot of previous discussion.
So, I've joined a team and plan to race next season. I *may* have the opportunity to get discounted Crank Brothers pedals (they were sponsors last year and will probably be this year too) and I am wondering what advantages switching pedal systems might have for me. Right now I have Shimano SPD's left over from when I cared about walking around easily. Yeah I mounted them on road shoes so ease of walking is already gone. I know that the bigger the platform the more force you can put on the pedal, but I have small feet (4.5 american) in the first place so a big platform is not my biggest worry. What other advantages would there be to switching pedal systems and would it be worth spending the money on?

I have used originally a Look style (Nashbar's Ventoux) and replaced it with the
Crank Brothers Candy C, which I found for $25 as returns at the local LBS. I don't really notice any difference between them. Both work just fine, and I have riden the fastest and longest on the Candy C's. Seems to me to be more of a function of my being in shape. -
Oh man, I don't know what I was thinking. For some reason I was thinking the little round ones were made by Crank Bros, but those are Speedplay's. After looking over all the pedals that CB has to offer, I'm thinking that there isn't much difference between SPD's and Crank Bro's - at least not enough to make much of a difference in ride/feel at all.

If you like the SPD's I wouldn't change them. Pedals to me are like a saddle. Find one that works and stick with it.
